Bayern Optimistic About Kane Triumph as Large Group Travels to the Ballon d’Or

Bayern Munich are sending a large delegation to London for the Ballon d’Or ceremony today, Monday, and the club is confident that Harry Kane will take the award. Many experts regard Kane as the favourite, although Kylian Mbappé and Lamine Yamal are also among the top contenders.

In recent weeks and months, Kane has received support from officials at FC Bayern as well as from his teammates at the club and on the national team. Numerous experts in Germany and abroad also consider him the best player of the 2025–26 season. Until the ceremony tonight, however, it remains uncertain whether the Englishman will receive the trophy. No Bayern player has won it since Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

Bayern Sends a Large Delegation to London

Bayern are travelling to London without sporting director Max Eberl, who has come down with a cold. The club is still sending a sizeable group. According to a report in the Spanish newspaper Marca, the record champions are very confident that Kane will win.

CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen and President Herbert Hainer are part of the Bayern contingent that has set off for London. Dayot Upamecano, Michael Olise, Lennart Karl, Pernille Harder and Klara Bühl are also travelling with the team, and all of them are nominated in various categories.

Kane’s biggest rivals, Yamal and Mbappé, will also attend the ceremony. The event begins at 7 p.m., and the streaming service DAZN will broadcast it live.

Why a Kane Win Matters

A Ballon d’Or victory for Kane would send an important message. It would be Bayern’s first title of this kind since 1981. It would also confirm that the award for the world’s best player can be won in the Bundesliga, which would generate more international attention and prestige for the league and carry real symbolic significance.
